Hola! My name is Petey and let me tell you- I’ve already had quite the life. I was born and raised on the streets of Puerto Rico until some wonderful rescuers saved me from long days roaming around and being very hungry. Since then, I have learned how to be a good boy and I've gotta tell ya- I REALLY like living in a home! Check out this video of me in my current foster home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKyTLMYW6ZE!
I got to travel on the plane all the way to the DC area in hopes that someone here will want to take me home. I'm waiting every day for my chance to find someone to love, cuddle, and play with!
So a bit about me: I've got a really beautiful and soft white coat with some brown spots just on my face! I've also got big floppy ears- that will do whatever you tell them to (with some proper training, that is)! Right now, I’m about 1.5 years old and 45 - 50 lovable pounds. My age means that I am likely done growing—but no matter how big I get I’ll always think of myself as a lap dog.
I do really well with other dogs - as long as I am given a proper introduction. We are not sure how I will interact with kids or cats yet, but the folks at Lucky Dog can try to find out for you if you need to know!
Woofs and tail wags,
PETEY
A NOTE FROM PETEY'S FOSTER PARENT:
He does like to be outside and is pretty good at fetch, although he needs a bit more work on the "give" part of the game. He also does well at the dog park and will focus his time and energy to whatever balls are around more so than the other dogs. His leash manners have improved drastically and has cut down on his tendency to pull (still happens when he gets excited though). He has also made great strides with his leash anxiety and while he has his days, most days he is able to properly meet other dogs on leash without incident. There are definitely some tricks to this which I would be happy to share as I think this will be an ongoing thing to work on with Petey.
The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Elissa at [email protected]!
