Adopt a Miniature Schnauzer / Poodle (Miniature) / Mixed (long coat)
Tom Sawyer the Dog needs a home
We will be doing adoptions on Saturday, February 17th and Sunday, February 18th from 12-4pm at Palo Alto Pet Food Express. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express from 12-4pm on Sat. Feb. 17th & Sun. Feb. 18th or until adopted. If interested, please fill out an application if you would like the first opportunity to meet prior to the start of the event. (We will pre-approve one home to meet per dog.)
Tom Sawyer is a 5 year old Schnoodle (Schnauzer-Poodle). He has a nonshedding coat that is an option for those who have allergies or simply want a dog who doesn't shed. He will need regular grooming. He has been recently groomed. He's a very sweet, loving boy who walks in and gets along with everyone. He was a rescue from the shelter and immediately won our volunteer over. The shelter staff said he was a favorite as well. Some dogs just win you over from the word go.
Tom Sawyer has a heart murmur. He is does not need medication. It's recommended that he have moderate exercise and nothing that is forced (like running alongside a bike). He's a pretty laid back dog anyway. He likes to play a bit and he likes to go on walks. He likes meeting and greeting folks but he's beyond the days of needing lots of exercise and certainly nothing extra.
Tom Sawyer gets along well with other dogs. He came into the shelter and then into our rescue with another dog, Huck Finn. They are definitely buddies. But they both get along with other dogs and could easily acclimate to a home individually with another dog or be someone's one and only. Tom Sawyer is pretty human motivated and loves to be around his people.
Tom Sawyer is an option for a home that has less experience as long as they have done their homework to prepare for having a dog. If there are children they need to be over the age of 6.
