Pinto Vroom -- HOSPICE the Dog needs a home

Umbrella of Hope "Be Our Pet"

Pinto is a 8 Year old, 6lb, Chihuahua, SPAYED Female For ADOPTION!

Meet Miss Pinto Vroom!

As of 10/24/15 Pinto is considered to be a hospice dog due to a pituitary tumor.  She will be completing a bucket list and can be followed on Facebook with the hashtag #pintosbucketlist

Pinto has been with us since July 2015 when she came to us with a healing abscess on her head that our wonderful friends at CONTRA COSTA ANIMAL SERVICES took care of for us by placing a drain.

It was very slow to heal and as we were monitoring some unusual findings on her bloodwork over the next few months, we incidentally found out that she had developed Cushing's Disease (which is treatable/manageable).  She was put on a diet to help her lose some weight because she was having some issues with her back legs.

She also has had a snotty nose that would get better and then get worse after many rounds of antibiotics and a culture.  Her right eye has also been bulged out and that did not get better after her abscess resolved. Putting all of these pieces together, our vet x-rayed her head and is pretty confident that she has a brain tumor on her pituitary gland that is growing pretty fast.

We have entered her into our hospice program.  She is now no longer on a diet and can eat whatever she likes.  We will be monitoring her quality of life and making sure that every day counts and when she is no longer having good days, we will let her go.  Right now she is happy, active and HUNGRY.

She has now decided to end her life in the best way possible... By starting and COMPLETING a Bucket List.

If you are local (SF Bay Area of CA) and want to take her on a date, please email us at [email protected].  If you are not local, please consider taking a hospice dog from your local shelter or rescue and giving them an amazing sunset.  Donations towards Pinto's care or her legacy program, can be mailed to Umbrella of Hope, c/o Well Pet Vet Clinic, 4040 Railroad Ave, Pittsburg, CA 94565 OR our paypal address is [email protected].  We also have an Amazon Wish List.  Our tax ID number is 45-4103375 and all donations are tax-deductible.

(Pinto is from Contra Costa Animal Services)

Pinto is a 8 Year old, 6lb, Chihuahua, SPAYED Female For ADOPTION! She is also microchipped, vaccinated and free of parasites!

Pinto was dropped off in the night drop off box at Contra Costa Animal services, when the shelter workers found her she was scared and hurt. She had an ENORMOUS abscess on the right side of her forehead. They drained it (you could even see her skull underneath it, poor baby!) and set about fixing her, all through out this she behaved like a model citizen regardless of how hurt she was!

Thanks to the amazing work by Contra Costa Animal services she is healing well. She currently has stents holding her sore bits open, she looks like she's going to make a fantastic recovery very soon and is going to be back to her vivacious self soon. (UPDATE; We are happy to annouce she's made an amazing recovery and is slowly growing back some fuzz around her old injury)

She's got an amazing personality, she has the cutest bossy little bark if she wants attention but quickly stops if you give her the eye! She seems very independent but also a lover of cuddles! She loves lounging in the garden on the grass and if you're lucky she'll show you Her famous grass wiggle! She even gives kisses if you tell her she's pretty. She also knows how to sit and is great with other dogs!

If you think Pinto is better off in your arms, email us at [email protected] or fill in an application online!

Welcome to UOH Pinto!
