Adopt a Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat)
Gracie White Lab Havard the Dog needs a home
Update as of 10/15/17 - Gracie is becoming a much more confident dog with lots of love to give to her humans. Since she is no longer in pain from her ACL problem she has become a different dog who looks for attention and love from people and likes to interact with almost any dog. She is still a little fearful of a more dominant dog. She may be tolerant of cats since she was nonreactive of them while at 11th Hour's kennel. She is good around all people but may be wary of very young kids who do not know how to treat dogs.
Gracie was one of 4 dogs dumped at the end of a dirt road in a rural area. A woman living on the road had been feeding them for about a month, but was afraid that with deer hunting season they would be killed. Eleventh Hour Rescue was contacted and all 4 of the dogs were brought to NJ to begin a better life. EHR discovered that sweet Gracie was pregnant when she arrived in NJ.
From her foster family: Gracie delivered her 9 puppies on Christmas Eve and was an excellent mom to all of them. The puppies have been adopted and now it is Gracie's turn. Gracie is still very timid/shy. She will need patience at first from her furever family and it would be best to keep her in a small area until she adjusts to living in your home. She is extremely friendly and really just wants love and pets.
Gracie's foster family has 3 kids ages 9 to 16 and she is fine with all of them but her perfect home would be a single person or a quiet couple. When she is scared she backs away from you but there is never any sign of aggression - she looks for a way to escape. The foster family has 3 large dogs and she seems to blend with the lower key dogs better than with the "in your face" dogs. She loves to be outdoors and plays with all the dogs when outside. When she is inside, she is less comfortable and does not like to be around the "in your face" kind of dogs. At first she was a little scared of the leash being put on her but she is doing much better with it and usually she walks nicely on it.
Gracie is a super sweet girl who is starving for a loving family to give her the confidence she needs to thrive and come out of her shell. She is housebroken and likes to be in her little area of the house. She would probably do better in a home with kids who are older, quieter and respectful of her and her timidness. She could go into a home with or without a dog. She perks up and wants to chase squirrels so not sure about cats.
Gracie has had ACL (knee) surgery on her left hind leg and is undergoing physical therapy currently. Her knee is as good as new but until it is completely healed she will need to go slowly and not play.
