Awesome family dog looking for a sofa to crash on and a bed to sleep in. Maxwell is a 3-year-old Anatolian shepherd mix. He is smart, knows a few basic commands, has good inside manners and loves people. He is also crate trained and does well on a leash.
Maxwell is good with kids. He was on his own for a long time and food was scarce, so there may be food aggression with others. The idea situation would be if he could be an only
child. Maxwell needs to be an inside dog with a fenced yard with plenty of room on the sofa to cuddle.
Maxwell has been through a lot of pain and suffering in his life. When he was rescued 8 miles out in the county last April he had a gunshot wound in his back end and almost lost his leg. Had a long tedious surgery followed by 8 weeks of crate rest.
Maxwell had a chip that lead us to a little bit of his story. We know as a 6-week old puppy he was adopted from a shelter in Joplin, Missouri. We know that months later he was dumped in or around Madisonville, Texas. He had to fend for himself for a long time. He was thin malnourished and injured when we got him.
Maxwell, like most rescues, has a few issues which can be resolved with the right environment. Maxwell cannot be around livestock. He has been living in a kennel which is not the best environment. Maxwell desperately needs the opportunity to thrive and play and be loved.
Sad to say but we are desperate for help. We do not have a facility nor do we have a place to put him. We feel Maxwell will thrive as an inside dog and will be a loving and loyal companion and a great family dog.
So far he's only been placed in fosters where there is livestock.
We all know that dogs can be totally different in a non-kenneled environment.
If you or anyone you know can help us help Maxwell please let us know.
