Adopt a Pekingese (long coat)

Pekingese (long coat) Dog

Larry the Dog needs a home

All of our dogs and cats are in foster homes and we have no paid staff.  If you have questions concerning a specific animal,  PLEASE fill out an application and the foster parent will be in touch.  We will not arrange any home visits with any of our dogs and cats until your application is processed.  Please understand our foster parents are precious to our 2nd Chance family; without them we cannot function, so we do our best to not burden them with multiple appointments.  Our foster parents will choose their top 3 applications and arrange home visits with these applicants.  The adopter will be chosen at that time.  The process can take anywhere from a week to a month.  We want to make sure our little furry ones are placed in their "forever home" and never have to go through a rehoming again!

Update 5/16/2012: Larry is doing very well. We will require a 1 story home with a fenced yard for Larry. He enjoys the yard and will spend hours just laying in the sun and barking at hmmmm not sure what LOL. He still is choosy about who he likes but if he likes you he will LOVE you. Good little boy. Poor Larry was in a home with two other siblings who were not taken care of or loved. We believe they spent most of their lives in crates! They ate whatever they could find. Harry, Larry's brother, was pooping stones when he was rescued :-( I guess they at least made his stomach feel like it had something in it. Harry was assessed by our eye specialist just to see if we could give him any sight back but she said sadly no. She believes that they all probably lost their sight due to such poor nutrition and just all around bad care. Harry and Larry say please don't feel sad for them because they are just so appreciative of having love and full bellies and a soft bed to cuddle in that they are not even worrying about their eye sight. They say THANK YOU !
Update 1/2/2012:  Larry is adjusting to his foster home.  He has learned to find his way to the door when he needs to go potty and he knows where the water bowl is and he has a great appetite!  He doesn't interact with the other dogs but doesn't seem to mind them either.  He is "choosy" of whom he trusts as far as humans so you will need to move slowly with him.  His metal stitches will be removed from his eye socket at the end of this week so he will be happy to not have to deal with them anymore!

Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to
families with children under the age of 5.  We do not adopt dogs to renters.  Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.

A pet is a lifetime commitment.  The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners.  We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs.  Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
