Adopt a German Shepherd Dog / Mixed
Rosie the Dog needs a home
This is my neighbors dog, surrendered due to health reasons. The ladies son got her, and moved , leaving elderly lady to try to take care of 3 dogs. Rosie has mostly been penned since the son moved out.
She has been here about 8 weeks. learning how to Dog, as a remedial student. She has progressed adequately, but is large for my crew, smart and doesnt take NO for an answer very often. She is overstimulated, steps on everyone and is borderline between dominance issues and forceful play. I believe all these issues will work out soon, she is a sweet gentle girl , mostly eager to please.
She Would get a high B + in How to People, by herself. She takes treats very nicely, rides well. She sleeps right beside the bed, you just have to turn the lights off. She had never been in the house before she came here, and was afraid the first few nights, but with the dog door, she has never peed in the house, learned to go out the very first day.
Rosie jumps to get in the cats face (not mean) regardless of how many times humans or cats tell her not to. If i get up to go to the next room, Rosie wants to go, and will knock you over to get there first, just in case she might miss something. This, I feel, is only partly a dominance issue (Not wanting the other dogs to get whatever "it" might be in the next room), but an enthusiasm issue with Peopling. Her demeanor is "Oh Boy! Lets go to the Bathroom!!!!"
She also Love Nibbles on people a little too hard. She ignores the most of girls' low level warnings of I Dont Want To Play, until they snap at her. Im afraid an adoptive home will think she is fighting, or trying to bite a kid. She is not, she just need more time to moderate her behavior. She meets all strangers well, but jumps, just like a 3 month old pup.
In summary, I think she is a 3 month old pup in a HUGE body, and needs some RuleTime
