Adopt a Domestic Short Hair (short coat)

Born July of this year Storm was special the moment we saw her and not just because of her stunning eyes, beautiful fur and those huge mitten paws.  She was actually caught in a trap as a feral kitten with the intentions of vetting her and then releasing her back into her colony.  However after observing her for only a few moments one of our volunteers recognized something wasn't quite right with Storm.  Doning our cat gloves and a bit of bravery (feral kittens can be quite fierce!) we took Storm out of the trap and assessed her.  Knowing the tell tale signs of pneumonia we then knew we couldn't put her under anesthesia for surgery and would have to treat her condition first.  So the scared little kitten found herself in an isolation cubbie and we bagan not only treating her condition but showing her that humans don't have to be scary.  She quickly learned that snuggles were awesome!  And that being silly and playing with her toys got her lots of positive attention which led to more belly rubs and face smooshing (something Storm loves!)  So although Storm has come along way from a fierce and frightened kitten off the streets she still takes some time to warm up and know that she is not in danger.  So a home with out small children would be best as she still startles easily.  She doesn't mind other cats or dogs however and would prefer to have a critter companion so she doesn't feel lonely.  Perhaps adopting a friend for her would be a great idea?????  Ok that was a shameless attempt at kitten adoption marketing but its true!  Kittens love friends and many need them so that they have a buddy to play with while you are away or to help them feel more confident.  If you would like to learn more about Storm or see if she would be a good match for your home please go to our website at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org to fill out the Cat Adoption Application.  And as always our cat adoptions are free will to approved applicants.  We are all volunteers at the shelter and our critter care is our top priority so we appreciate your patience while we find the time to get to applications and all those emails too!
