Adopt a Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)
Madame Jenni the Cat needs a home
and tested positive for FIV. They would have put her to sleep for it.
You can look on our website - there is plenty of info about FIV.
FIV is not spread by sharing food, water, or litter. Oxygen kills the virus immediately.
It is not a big deal as long as the cat is not mating or fighting (like tomcats would).
As for the mating, she is fixed so that is off the table. For the fighting
(down and dirty fighting), the virus is spread by a bite directly to a vein,
which would be exceedingly rare. She has never fought any of the foster
kitties in this manner.
Madame is just as rambunctious and healthy as can be. She has had
no problems with weather changes (some kitties get a sneeze or two
when it gets cooler, or a goopy eye....not this one!)
Madame Jenni is FEARLESS. Checks out everything, closets, cubbyholes,
she rules the entire roost! She is a petite gal with a huge personality.
We have had Madame Jenni for a couple months now and we know
she is very keen on her "humans" and follows them everywhere, like
a dog! Madame will even watch you from the screen porch as you do
yardwork, and meow to you consistently from the porch!!! LOL
She also swats forcefully at less fortunate kitties (those with blindness, etc)
so she would need to be in a home with kitties who are not special needs.
Madame is absolutely great with dogs, and is the only foster kitty who sleeps
with the gentle Bassett in the foster home. She does have a habit of zooming
outside if you leave the door open too long....she likes to check out the yard !
She has a rare white tip at the end of her tail...so cute!
