Adopt a Yellow Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)
Markus FOSTERED (Dawn) the Dog needs a home
11/05/15 Update!! Markus, Mr. Markus is his title. The first man in this house. He is very smart, The people in his forever home, need to be dominant. He has been to obedience school and knows his stuff. with a few walks a day, he will be great to listen. He follows direction and correction. He would be a better only dog, or with and older female. (Females are all hes been around on the older side) He respects them. He would make a good jogging buddy. Needs a yard to run in.
He is crate and house trained.
Markus would be great with
older children, he does not do well with small children. 05/08/15 Update from Markus's Foster Mom. I have calmed down but I still like to play. I listen so much better since I have calmed down. If I were an only pup you would get my undivided attention. I am still a kid at heart and smart to boot. If I am left on my own to think I get distracted. I need a strong but loving person to be my best friend. I love to jog and won't poop out on you but when we get home I will take a long nap. 12/23/14 Hello, I am Markus, I have been told that I am very smart. My foster mom and dad say so, an so does, my obedience teacher, at La Best. I graduated!!!!!!! That was rough. They made me listen for 2 hours straight. I can still make my mind wonder and have energetic streaks, if not on command, but hey, I'm a young boy. My wish is to get a preteen (10 or older) for Christmas. I have been tried out with young kids and I am to springy for them. I need people around me that will stand firm. If I could be an only furbaby, I would be calmer. (If my playmate is young and energetic, I will be too.) I could be with an older dog, but that depends on personalities. 11/22/14 Update: Markus has completed his puppy training classes, here he is with his certificate!! 08/09/14 Another picture of Marcus and his foster friend Bindy!! 07/13/14: Markus would do best with pre-teen or older children. 05/03/14: Markus is doing great in his foster home. From his foster family: "He is around 5 other dogs, and that is an accomplishment in itself to behave. He knows who is who and is minding his manners. He is on a grain free food, which helps a lot. We also have a calm down treat for when he is going out, because he does get excited and wants to run. He uses a dog door that leads to a run and a good sized fenced in back yard. He is doing well, and letting loose of some of the energy. As I am here sending this out, he is sleeping in a recliner. He loves truck rides, and follows me all over the house. I havent had him chew on anything but bones and he loves to play with ropes. He will chase a ball, but wont bring it back. Crate trained, although he will cry at first when put in there. he has a bed in the crate and hasn't tore it up yet. He is food aggressive, but many dogs are, They just have to be fed separately, (in the crate), and all is fine. Possessive with soup bones. House trained also, and hasn't learned to raise the leg yet, lol! If another dog is in the picture they probably need to be younger or close to his age, (3). My older dogs don't care much for his youthfulness. 05/23/14: Markus is being returned due to no fault of his own. 01/19/14 Markus was adopted Sunday at the Glen Carbon Petsmart. 01/02/14 Markus is guessed to be a 2-3 year old, lab/terrier mix. He was rescued from Madison County Animal Control. They were owner turn ins. Markus is a sweet boy, although he likes to protect his food. He listens well but needs more manners. He does like to play rough! He will need some obedience training to help him calm down and learn how to play. Markus is neutered, current on vaccinations, heatwormn neg, has his annual rabies vaccination, dewormed and micro-chipped. His adoption fee is $145.00.
