KITTENS!!! the Cat needs a home
Umbrella of Hope "Be Our Pet"
***Please note the Facebook album linked at the bottom of this information. Kittens who are of age and are available for adoption are listed there in REAL TIME. This means if there are not any kittens listed in the album, we do not have any for adoption at this time***
Please be aware that kitten season is a very specific time frame generally between March and September in the Bay Area. Kittens are born starting in March and April and therefore the biggest wave of kittens ready for adoption (8 weeks old+) starts in the June time frame and continues throughout the summer and early fall. There are VERY FEW kittens for adoption ANYWHERE in the Bay Area before mid-May and after mid-November. There are MULTITUDES of kittens available in the summertime.
For the best selection, please start your search in mid to late May and you will have a plethora to choose from. You can also sign up to foster kittens ("grow them") from your local rescue or shelter (the closer to you the better) and most of the time can get them quite young, hand raise them with or without the mother cat and keep your pick/s of the litter. However, it is a common misconception that you must get a kitten as young as possible to get it to "bond" to you and your family as we have had cats as old as 18 YEARS bond just fine with their families.
If we have kittens for adoption, they are not listed separately online except on our Facebook page (see bottom) and each litter also has an album where you can "watch them grow".
All kittens are spayed/neutered at 8 weeks old and 2 lbs. They have been given age-appropriate vaccines. They have been dewormed multiple times and treated for any external and internal parasites. They have been given any additional medical treatment that our vet recommends. Some kittens have been socialized with kids and/or dogs depending on their foster home. All have been littertrained.
We feed Royal Canin BabyCat WET AND DRY food until the kittens are 4 months old and then we slowly switch them to a grain-free variety (our choice is Wellness brand). We suggest feeding both wet and dry food until the kittens are at least 6 months of age. Orphan kittens (and some moms/litters) have been supplemented with raw food. Bottle babies are fed with a homemade formula consisting of goat's milk, egg yolks and yogurt or commercially available KMR or Just Born.
