This cute little girl is Julip! Julip was rescued from a high kill shelter in GA. Her name should really be Busy Playing! She loves to play all the time and is always so busy investigating everything. Her absolute favorite thing is tennis balls. She just loves to throw the ball for herself if her person won’t throw it. She is literally always happy!
Julip is about 6 – 7 months old and we are really not sure what her mix is. We think she's a Basenji/Shiba Inu mix but there is just no telling with this one. She looks like a little coyote or a fox and has very slanted eyes. Julip weighs 23 lbs right now and we don’t expect for her to become a large dog. We are guessing the biggest she may get is about 30-35 lbs.
Julip had something odd going on with her back legs. She runs and plays with no pain at all but is very wobbly and off balance. We have had xrays done by a vet and have been told there are 2 different types of hip dysplasia. Julip has the type that is not painful and because of her age we just won’t know for sure if her wonkiness will resolve itself until she is about 18 months old. Her condition could resolve and the vet did not believe there would be a need for surgery, however, we want potential adopters to understand there are just no guarantees with rescue dogs – well no guarantees with any dogs really.
Julip loves everyone and everything. She loves other dogs but will need to be in a home where the other dogs won’t mind their toys being stolen by her. She can be a little territorial when she first meets a new dog but then it is all kisses and play time. Julip has never had an accident in her foster home, which is pretty amazing for a puppy of her age. We always tell adopters to expect accidents in a new home though until they adjust. She does very well in her crate and adjusts to routines very quickly. Because she is young and super active we are looking for an adopter that will be home with her a lot. she should not be left home for more than 3-4 hours at a time. Julip will never be an athlete and won't make for a running companion, but she doesn't know that so don’t tell her!! She does well on a leash and rides well in the car. She really is just a joyful little girl that deserves a fantastic home. Her foster mom loves her very much and thinks she is something special.
Julip is spayed and up to date on her shots. She is in her foster home in GA and can be transported to an approved adopter in either MD or NJ so applicants should be willing to go to either of those states.
~~The Last Resort is a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in our foster homes all up and down the east coast. We do not have a facility in which you can visit. We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it’s like to have them live in your home. Part of our process, once pre-approved, is to speak with the foster for the dog you’re interested in. If you’re still interested in adopting from our rescue the first step is to complete our adoption application online at www.thelastresortrescue.com/adoptionapplication.htm
