Adopt a German Shepherd Dog (medium coat)

This pet is being adopted under the PawsLikeMe rehoming program but is located in San Jose, CA.

My owner, Wes, recently divorced and cannot take care of me anymore. I'm staying with his parents temporarily, but they unfortunately are not able to keep me in the long term either. I was born in Jan. 2013.  I love being close, affectionate, and curling up and cuddling with my family. Wes' mom calls me a "velcro dog", I think it's because I follow her around the house all the time. I love learning as long as treats are involved, and I can perform simple commands easily. My favorite is a tie between "roll over" and "reach for the sky!" I also love walks more than anything in the world, and I also like to play fetch with a frisbee or a ball. I've always received a good deal of attention and exercise, and have never had any health problems more severe than an ear infection!  Wes has my vaccination records, which are current, although a few will be needed to be renewed in September this year. I know my family loves me and will miss me terribly, and their main concern is that my new home be a kind and loving one, with a person or family that understands animals. As sad as I am to be leaving them, I can't wait to meet my potential new family! Oh, and here's a link to my facebook page that my owner Wes set up for me. He likes some activity such as a walk around the block or a game of fetch, but equally loves a nice relaxing nap. He won't get anxious if you don't exercise him regularly. He can be very focused on a task but can be distracted with a little bit of effort. He likes some order and a fairly regular routine. It can take a long time for him to warm up and accept anything new. A kind, understanding and patient approach is the best way to introduce him to new people or new places. He is very affectionate and doesn't hesitate to show it with cuddles and licks. He likes to be close to you as much as possible.
