Adopt a Jack Russell Terrier / Mixed (short coat)
Virtue: Hope the Dog needs a home
We will be doing adoptions on Saturday, February 17th and Sunday, February 18th from 12-4pm at Palo Alto Pet Food Express. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express from 12-4pm on Sat. Feb. 17th & Sun. Feb. 18th or until adopted. If interested, please fill out an application if you would like the first opportunity to meet prior to the start of the event. (We will pre-approve one home to meet per dog.)
Hope is a 2 year old JRT mix who is part of the Seven Virtue Dogs. He may present cautious initially. But he is all about his people. Once he's in the arms of his people he's a total cuddler and snuggler. If you let him sleep with you, he will sleep all night and not move at all. He's not much of an explorer initially. He really is a velcro kind of dog who stays with his people. Once he develops a confidence in his people he will become more adventurous.
The Seven Virtues are seven sweet dogs who we rescued from a terrible hoarding situation, one of the worst we’ve seen in our almost twenty years of rescue. The hoarders reached out to us and begged us to come take their dogs. When we arrived, we realized we didn’t have the capacity to take all 30-40 of them into our rescue and we called Animal Control to contact other rescues to come help with the rest.
Hope gets along well with other dogs. He can live with big or little ones. He is very dog savvy. He's an option once he is comfortable in his home (give him time, please!) he can go to doggy day camp or to the dog park. But he needs a significant bonding period at first. Hope is a dog who could stay home all day while his parents are at work. He's not a barker. Hope has always lived with cats as well. So he can go to a home with dog savvy cats.
Hope will need a home that has had a dog in the last 3 years. If there are kids they need to be at least 10 years old.
