Summer the Cat needs a home
10/14/17 Hi, my name is Summer and I’m a sweet but very shy orange tabby girl who needs a home with a warm and patient owner. I’m new resident at the Treetops Kitty Café and I’m still getting used to the place, so I tend to hide.
I was found in summer 2016 nursing 3 kittens in a horse stall and I raised them and another 3 orphaned kittens found nearby. All 6 kittens found homes quickly, but I’m still waiting for my forever home. For the last year I was fostered in a home with other cats (which I liked) and dogs (who I tolerated). Although it took me a long time to settle in (months), once I did I enjoyed lounging around places where I could be seen and petted by my foster parents and their visitors, including their young grandchildren. But to be honest, I don’t think I’ll ever be a lap cat and being picked up or held is upsetting to me.
Now I’ve been bought to the Cat Café so that more people can meet me, but I’m very overwhelmed with this new place and so many new people, sounds, smells, and cats. Most of the time I hang out in my cat condo, but I do like it and start purring when people I have gotten to know reach in to pet me. It will take a while, probably many weeks before I’ll start feeling at home here, but I hope people will take the time to get to know me and give me a chance to finally find my forever home.
7/2/16 Summer was rescued with her 3 new born babies. Our foster also found another cat (Tia a Torti and pregnant) and 3 younger (orphaned) babies in another stall so she brought them all home to take care of them since they were very friendly and adoptable. Summer has taken in the orphans too and is now nursing all 6 kittens. She is great with all of them.
She was found in a horse stall taking care of her 3 kittens. She didn't even need to be trapped because she is not feral. She is very friendly and likes attention and be held. Since Summer has been on her own she is adjusting to mommyhood and being in a home environment, she may be a little nervous with a load household with small children. She spends her days nursing the kittens and laying around. She is litter box trained too. She does let people pickup her babies with no problems.
Summer has just had her Wellness visit and physical with the vet. She is in great health, got her Rabies shot and is Negative for Feline Leukemia. She will be spay once her babies are weened and then she will be ready to be adopted too. She is nursing her babies but once they are all weened they will all be up for adoption too.
According to the vet, Summer's kittens are now 3 weeks old and the orphaned kittens are now 2 weeks old.
All the kittens are in great health and just getting their first bath so we can take really good pics of them to post for you. Will be shortly.
