Shadow the Dog needs a home
Shadow actually likes Pedigree treats better than magic hot dogs! He's smart, mellow, sweet and good with cats. Shadow waits for my neighbor's cat to come up to the fence and they stare at each other. The cat of mine that is allowed outside goes up to Shadow and rubs up against him. The two stand quietly and then go on about their business.
Shadow is perfectly house-trained and walks very well on leash. He knows to sit still while I put on his leash and does not pull while walking, but is always out front. Even so, he would be perfectly happy as a couch potato. He thinks he is a lap dog, but at 84 pounds he is too big for most laps! So, Shadow has finally learned to lay beside me on the couch. When Shadow is bored, he rearranges the furniture in his doggie room. I have one chair he can pull or push around, so he does, now and then. And he's always pulling his bed around and putting different toys or blankets on it. I, however, must put the chairs and other things back where they belong after I wash or sweep the floor. If I don't, it's good for about 4 minutes of eye-rolling, panting and circling. Then he settles down.
Shadow has arthritis in his hips, but on his medicine (which he swallows like a Hoover), he seems pain-free and races up and down the hill in my yard. He loves to be brushed down his back, over his hips and down his thighs.
Right now Shadow is afraid of cars, but we are working on that. Otherwise he is a hoot. If he can overcome his fear of cars, he'll make someone a wonderful pet.
