Adopt a Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)
Opie the Dog needs a home
Hey everyone! Opie here, or Dopie Opie as my foster family lovingly calls me. I am a goofy pup with lots of energy. I am a personable and precious Labrador Retriever mix boy weighing approximately 70 lbs and they estimate I was born about July of 2015. I had an owner at one time, but apparently they didn't want me anymore. I wandered up to someone's house with a leash wrapped around my neck. The owner of the home was just about to have a new baby so they had no room in their home for me, which is how I ended up at a local city Animal Shelter. It just so happens it was my lucky day as a Pup Patrol volunteer was there picking up another pup and fell in love with me! She waited until my stray hold was up then came right back to get me when my family never showed up. I get along great with other dogs and kids....I'm overly excited about cats, so a home with no cats is probably better for me.
I am quite fit and athletic and can clear a 6-foot fence with no problem, so please have a tall secure fence that will keep me in. I cannot be left alone outside all day as I will find a way out. I am crate trained and should be crated when you are gone. I walk great on leash and have been basic obedience trained. I will need a loving, committed family who has the necessary time to spend with me as I am very social, love my exercise, love to learn, and must be a forever integral part of a family. I love to play fetch and will bring you back the toy you throw. I am housetrained and I know how to sit and shake already.
