Meet Lou Ida! This 2-3 year old lab mix is a sweet and happy girl who loves to snuggle as much as she loves to play.

Lou Ida came to us from a shelter in Missouri. We are unsure of her history prior to arriving in the shelter, but she has adjusted to life with us very well. She is 100% crate trained and never barks, whines or complains about being crated. She is also house trained and rides great in a car. She lives with dogs, cats and an 11 month old child and does great with all of them. Lou Ida is still a young dog who is learning manners. She tends to jump and mouth when excited and is best behaved when she has plenty of appropriate chew toys to play with. That said, Lou Ida is easy to handle in public and has accompanied us to busy pet stores and on walks in our busy Minneapolis neighborhood and does well. We walk her on a gentle leader and she responds well to that. She can be a little unsure in new environments, but typically settles in quickly and is still happy to meet new people. She seems to love running and playing with other dogs out in the yard and is good about ignoring them when on leash and out and about. She knows basic commands such as sit and stay.

Like most adolescent labs, Lou Ida does have a fair amount of playful energy and the saying, "a tired dog is a good dog" is most definitely true for her. Luckily, exercising Lou Ida is easy since she loves playing with other dogs, playing fetch, and learning new tricks. She is both food and toy motivated and very eager to please. Once Lou Ida has had a proper outlet for her energy, she is happy to chill out and relax. She is truly a joy to play with and we could see her excelling in an obedience class.
