Adopt a Domestic Short Hair

Soft, shy, gentle Meet Mami, a beautiful tabby in need of a forever friend who can lift her spirits by reminding her what it's like to be loved. This sweet girl has been through a tough time, and she's understandably still scared and sad. For unknown reasons, her owner of two years recently surrendered her to a Houston shelter where she was close to being put down. Fortunately, APA was able to rescue her and place her with a loving foster family here in Austin. This poor girl has been through a lot, and as a result she's slow to trust any new people and situations. She seems to be afraid of wand toys and her foster's dog. When her foster parents are in her room with her, she stays curled up in her safe spot. But when they approach her slowly and gently, she will let them stroke her back, and then she starts purring and doesn't stop until the petting stops. She has even rolled over a couple of times and let them stroke her soft belly. They feel that she's just on the verge of letting herself be loved! Mami has the softest fur and the sweetest little meow. She's not very vocal, but she does sometimes meow her thanks when she's being stroked. She also sometimes meows to say that she's lonely in her room. She prefers dry food to wet food, and she has perfect litter box manners. Mami will do best in a quiet home with one or two adults and no other pets. Her new parent(s) will need to be patient with her and give her all the time she needs to adjust and feel safe. This sweet, gentle girl so deserves to be loved! If you're patient and willing to put in the effort, the reward will be well worth it.
