Adopt a German Shepherd Dog

Hi, Zach again. Good news: I had my check-up with the vet, and she says I am doing great! Yes, my teeth are a bit worn down, I have some arthritis in my hind legs, and my eyes and ears are not quite what they used to be, but overall I look and behave like a much younger dog!  I am fully potty-trained as long as I get regular bathroom breaks, and I have adjusted to the hardwood and tile floors in the house.  I love, love, love my crate with my nice orthopedic mattress and take long naps in it. When I see my leash, I get very happy and wag my tail since I enjoy my short walks every day. I watch the other dogs play outside, but prefer to stay on the deck and sunbathe, or get some head rubs from my people. Life is good!

10/01/2017   Hi, I am Zach. I spent my whole life as the protector of an auto shop, but then my caretaker found me this new gig in what is called “a house” with “foster parents” and “doggie and parrot siblings”. I am not so sure about this new situation yet, but I have to say, being inside, having orthopedic dog beds and lots of loving is growing on me! I am very proud to announce that I am almost fully potty-trained (as long as I get to go outside on a regular basis, hey, I am an old guy, what do you expect). I am still learning to navigate hardwood and tile floors (those things are slippery, but my foster parents bought more rugs to help me out, and I am very smart staying on them to get around). I have also been told that I have to lose some weight which will help my mobility, but I am still arguing my case on that one! More to come as I get more comfortable and have my check-up with the vet!

From Zach’s foster mom: Zach is in excellent shape for a 12+ year old GSD. He is very sweet, despite not having had much interaction with people and never having been around dogs before.
