All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston. Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system. To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters. Our adoption fee varies by dog. We accept cash only.
Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only. A FTA contract is required.
Tied out to a tree his whole life.. in a trailer park. exposed to the elements 24x7 365. FOR 3 YEARS! fed garbage from DOLLAR GENERAL. poor nutrition, terrible neglect.
Needless to say, he's heartworm positive.
In spite of the neglect this boy suffered, he's super friendly. Wants to cuddle with you all the time. such a lover. lots of energy. we will get him healthy! Can you help? This boy needs a FOSTER or FOSTER-TO-ADOPT!
Barney is HW+ and not ready for adoption. As a result, he must be placed in 'foster to adopt' homes. This means, the rescue still maintains legal ownership of the dog and upon satisfying all veterinary requirements and Heartworm treatment is complete, we complete the adoption contract. this is a 60 to 90 day process.
As a foster, you would be required to get the dogto our vet (in Spring) for regular visits for vaccinations and his HW treatments (the rescue pays for this).

Upon review, a volunteer will contact you if there are questions. Please be as thorough as possible in the answering the questions. Missing phone numbers, invalid addresses, or other inaccurate data will cause your application to be denied without further processing.
If approved, we will forward your application to the foster for review. If the foster feels like this is a ‘good fit’, they will contact you to schedual a 'Meet & Greet'
Should be you approved to 'foster-to-adopt' (FTA), you will be asked to execute a Foster-to-adopt Contract and submit ½ of the adoption fee. (Our adoption fee varies by dog and payable by cash only.)
