Paisley is learning what it's like to be part of a family. From roaming free in the country surviving on scraps, she is now adjusting to living indoors with a family. At a very young age, Paisley was said to be in a house fire, though we aren't exactly sure the validity of the story we do know that she does have some pretty severe scarring to her body that shows she was definitlely in something pretty horriffic. It has taken her a few months to realize that people and strangers are actually pretty nice to be around, but she does sometimes wonder about other dogs. If a strange dog comes up to her face too quickly, fear will take over and she can be a bit snippy. She lives well with the dogs in her foster home, so we think with the right introductions and a watchful eye she can be integrated into another family with pets. The main thing that Paisly needs more training on is her resource guarding. Anything high quality to her (Treats, toys, bones, food etc...) is given in her crate or in a room away from the other animals as she will get angry when another animal approaches her possessions. We can only imagine that this is due to having basically nothing and surviving on what little was given to her out in the country. This is of course something that could be managed and most likely reversed over time. She is a very sweet dog that wants to just cuddle up in your lap and love you all day long. You can come meet her at our adoption events held at Columbia, MO PetSmart on the first and third Saturday of each month!
