***JAMES BOND is a HOSPICE dog who does not have much time left.  We are posting him for AWARENESS ONLY and we are not looking to move him from his fospice (foster/hospice) home.  He would love chew treats and wet food from our Amazon Wish List that can be found here:  http://a.co/58dpbX4.  Thank you for understanding****

BOND, JAMES BOND -- SF Bay Area of CA

We would like to extend our warmest welcome to our newest hospice foster -- Mr James Bond himself.

James Bond is a 12 yr old, 75 lb Labrador Retriever who was dumped by the family that he had known his whole life to be euthanized because he was having trouble walking. He had not visited a vet in over 11 years.

San Jose Animal Care Center reached out to us via San Jose Animal Advocates and Tails of a Shelter Vet and a wonderful volunteer transported him and three other dogs to us.

What we expected was hip dysplasia and an anal gland infection but what it turned out to be was a HUGE cancerous rectal tumor that has metastasized to his spine, lungs and shoulder. He will not be with us for very long. But he will be warm. He will be fed. He will be on excellent pain medications (even though he does not seem to be painful thank goodness). And he will have as many stuffed animals that he would like to tear into smithereens and as many bully sticks and other chewies as his heart desires. There might be some ice cream, steak, hamburgers and chocolate in that line up too. We go big here at Umbrella of Hope.

Sometimes rescue is about nothing more than giving an animal back their dignity before sending them on to their place in the greater universe. A dog who was loyal and loving for 12 years deserves to be set free from this life with his family surrounding him. And so he will. We are now his family.

Our wonderful hospice fosters, Andrea and Michael, agreed to have their hearts broken yet again in order to give this wonderful dog the ending that he earned and deserved. Our hats are off to them.

If you would like to contribute to our hospice fund to allow us to continue to take these sweet animals and give them a beautiful sunset, please do so online at www.paypal.me/UOH or send a check to our mailing address 4040 Railroad Blvd, Pittsburg, CA 94565. They are tax deductible.

If you would like to send James Bond a chew toy/treat, you can find our Amazon Wish List here: http://a.co/6OWnySK
