Rosie and Jax are sibling Akita mixes. Approximately 8 years old and would love to be adopted together (and for only one adoption donation). Rosie (Brindle female) is a spitfire. Just adorable and full of life. She still has a lot of puppy in her and it is hard to believe that she is considered a senior, she loves nothing more than her toys and her ball. She seems to be in perfect health for her age and is a little smaller than her brother, at 68lbs. She is spayed and up to date with her vaccinations. When she was pulled from the Shelter she was pretty traumatized and still suffers from a little isolation anxiety when away from her brother. She will require a yard with a high fence as she can easily scale a four foot fence. She can be a little stand offish with new people but soon warms up to them. She knows basic commands and seems to have had some training in her earlier years. She is learning to walk nicely on a leash.Jax (Black and white male) is a total doll who wants nothing more than to gaze into your eyes and sit by your feet but he can get his 'groove on' if a Lizard or a Road Runner need chasing out of his space. He loves his 'stuffie toys' and likes to carry one around all day. He was a mess when pulled from the Shelter, severely depressed, lethargic, arthritic and had major hair loss. Blood work was done and he is hypothyroid... one little tablet a day and he is a different dog. He also takes medication for arthritis. Jax weighs about 97lbs, is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations and just needs a place to chill for the rest of his life. He knows basic commands and is learning to walk nicely on a leash. Both dogs were previously outside dogs and had never been indoors. They are now house trained and would love to be indoor dogs. They need to be adopted together with an experienced owner and somebody who will continue with their training. Ideally their new home would be cat free and have no other dogs. They are great with children but need to go to a home with older kids, simply due to their size and small children could get knocked over.
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
