Metra the Dog needs a home
Hi! My name is Metra and I am a red heeler (mix) and approximately 1 year old. I am a loving dog looking for an active family. I am also a classic working dog and enjoy having jobs to do and staying busy. It takes me time to gain trust in people, so I might bark when I first meet you, but I warm up quickly if you give me a little space. I am 100% house trained and do ok in a kennel, but I'm fine left alone in the house. I could play forever, but I am always down for a good snuggle. My favorite things to do are go for walks/runs, play fetch with a soccer ball and cuddle on the couch or bed. I am a bit too fixated on cats, so would prefer a home without any. I get along great with my foster home's older dog. I give him the space he needs, but do want to play even though he cannot. With proper introduction, I would do well with another dog. It should be noted that I do like to be in charge. Oh, did I mention I love kids? I might bark at them if they start running around because I want to play too, but I love them. I am very loyal and will follow my people around the house. I don't want to miss a thing. I am VERY smart and know all the basic commands. Right now, my foster family is working with me on reducing barking with new people, and it is going well. I am ready to meet my furever family! Any
previous dog experience might be best for me.
