Abbie the Dog needs a home
Meet "Abbie"! This lucky chi-weenie was rescued from the streets of Rockport just before Harvey flattened the town!
She's about 12-14 months old and full of energy! She's waiting on her spay appointment. She's a joyful little pup of 16 pounds. She does a little short-lived barking, so a house might be best.
She's learning to walk on a leash, which she's doing great with! She's very energetic when playing. And, she's doing great with her potty training!
Abbie is mildly HW positive, had shots and wormed. She will need treatment before being available for adoption (and spaying).
Abbie was rescued by a good Samaritan evacuating Hurricane Harvey, just in time! The man went to where dogs were dumped and tried to catch some of the strays. He caught Abbie, Max and his sister (adopted), and one other retriever pup. Drove from Rockport with 4 dumped strays, no collars or leashes! Dropped them off in Denton at a cousin's house before going to Oklahoma for refuge.
Abbie will be available after her heartworm treatment and spaying .
She's pretty darn cute. She's basically white; but she's got light brown freckles on her ears. Her eyes and nose are brown.
When I first picked her up, she had a skin issue on her neck and chest, but her fur has pretty much regrow and she continues to improve. (Vet said it was NOT mange. He was impressed with her improvement.)
The man who rescued the dogs said she had been on the streets at least 3 months along with the two chocolate chihuahuas. He knew they were there and had been feeding the dumped dogs in that area after work several times a week.
She's crate trained ... and a lover!!!
