Adopt a American Pit Bull Terrier / American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

DOB: August 2013  |||  BREED/COLORING:  Pit Bull / Staffordshire Terrier: Blue  |||  SIZE: Parker weighs about 50lbs and is full grown.  ||| HISTORY:  Parker was at the Long Beach Pet Expo in April 2014 with the Redlands Shelter and was not adopted by the end of the Expo. We were informed that the shelter was full and that he may be euthanized the next morning if he didn’t get adopted - so we rescued him at the end of the event. Parker must have had an inner-ear infection as a baby that was never treated – he has hearing loss (if not completely deaf) and tends to spin in circles.  |||  PERSONALITY: Parker is quite an interesting boy and very playful. He's VERY smart and extremely sweet. Because of his permanent inner ear issues, Parker tends to spin in circles a lot – small circles in small spaces, big circles in big spaces… which we think is cute J  |||  TRAINING: Parker did very well with crate training and housebreaking when he was in a foster home. Now that he is at a kennel facility, he will need some “rework” on his skills.  |||  WOULD DO BEST:  Since we are fairly certain that he can't hear well - if at all - he will need a home that is willing to understand that he can be defensive with other dogs due to this disability. Parker would love to have a big yard to wander around in. He’d probably do best as an only-dog - but could be with one other non-Alpha large dog. He requires a decent size yard space and a fairly strong handler. ||| CATS/DOGS/KIDS: He was being fostered with two large dogs for about a year and did great with them. He is not recommended for homes with cats. He would be great with children over about five years of age.  |||  VET RECORD: All of our dogs are currently vaccinated, spayed/neutered and microchipped prior to adoption.  |||  AVAILABILITY: This dog is available for adoption now and is being fostered or kenneled in the San Fernando Valley area.
