Adopt a Rat Terrier (short coat)
Addie (FL) the Dog needs a home
Addie is an 8-year-old sweetheart and social butterfly! Friendly and outgoing, she wants to say “Hi!” to everyone she meets when she is out on a walk. If you're not familiar with the longevity of Rat Terriers, then you might not know that 8 is just on the cusp of middle age, and Addie has had just the right amount of time to develop the traits you'd expect of a lady. She's house-trained, trustworthy, and very well-behaved in the house. She does like to bark but will usually stop when she is told to. Addie has also had time to experience a bit of middle-age spread, and she weighs a chunky 25 lbs. (probably due to living a more sedentary lifestyle with a less active older person for the past three years). She would greatly benefit from losing a few pounds and getting more exercise. In the past, she was an enthusiastic jogging partner and loved to spend time at the dog park, where she preferred playing with the bigger dogs. Addie has not lived with another dog but seems to get along with most. She's fine around children as long as they are old enough to be respectful and gentle with her. She does not enjoy rough handling, squeezing, or hugging and will nip if pressured. Addie would love to find a home with moderately active adults, who would regularly take her on neighborhood walks and other outings. Of course she hopes there will be lots of snuggle time too. A fenced yard to explore and protect from squirrels and other critters would be great--Addie is a master vole hunter! If losing weight and/or getting in shape is on your list of resolutions, then Addie would love to join you! She promises it will be fun. She promises everything you do together will be fun.
