Terrier / Mixed (short coat) Dog

180087 Lulu the Dog needs a home

#71818, Lulu. Lulu is an eight-nine month old female terrier mix whose owner could no longer keep her. She is crate-trained but not housetrained, about 12-15 lbs.

Lulu epitomizes HIGH ENERGY!  She is rather non-stop so while a sweet gal, you will have to be the type to love a dog who just never stops.  Good with other dogs BUT only if they can tolerate or join in on her non-stop playing.  You will have to be a person who won't give up after the first day or two.  We cannot say strongly enough how NONSTOP HIGH ENERGY Lulu is - she is simply not a dog for the majority of adopters.  So where is her adopter who can channel her energy and enjoy her wild abandon!

Update as of 1-26-18.  Lulu came back to us for the third time because the adopters just said she was too much for them.  We asked one of our most awesome fosters to take Lulu to see what is going on.  Now this is a foster with MULTIPLE dogs and they interact with their dogs all the time.   So below are her exact evaluation on Lulu:

I honestly think she just needs exercise and boundaries. She doesn’t seem any more hyper than a puppy. She definitely needs another dog to play with.

We just don’t understand how this dog has been returned. She is very sweet, has great dog skills, playful but not crazy. She’s smart. She’s learning what’s acceptable and what’s not. Inquisitively busy. Is learning to be quiet in the crate. Likes to snuggle. We’ve had crazy and she is just not that difficult. Do you know if she was the only dog in the homes she went to? I would recommend that she have another dog to play with.

She and my pointer run and chase each other and wrestle. She’s not a pest to the dogs that don’t want to play.

She’s been really good. Vocal at times but she responds well to verbal corrections. Playful but not out of control.

She is. Very affectionate too. Follows me wherever I go. Has just fallen in line with the others. But I think she’s very adoptable.

All pet adoption websites & our shelter management software require that we choose a primary and/or secondary breed for our dogs.  While our staff is quite breed knowledgeable, in many cases we are truly making our best guesses as to their breed(s) based on many factors but cannot promise that what we have said is accurate.   So taking into account your own parameters for things such as size, coat care, activity level, etc please come and get to know our dog(s) as individuals to see if their personalities and yours are a forever match.
