Adopt a Catahoula Leopard Dog / Basset Hound / Mixed (short coat)

Blue and Mabel are a “bonded pair”. For that reason, we’re committed to placing them together in one home! Blue is a very handsome Catahoula Leopard Dog mix approximately five years old and 50 pounds. Miss Mabel is a joyful Basset Hound mix, about six years old and 30 pounds.

An intelligent guy, Blue completed a basic obedience program, learning leash walking, “sit”, “down”, “place”, “kennel”, and “no”. Eager to please, he needs and loves the mental and physical engagement of learning and going for walks. Miss Mabel, as befits a gentle lady, walks wonderfully on a leash and sits politely for her meals. She likes car rides, and loves to put her head out the window at slow speeds on back roads, nose in the wind, long black ears flapping, and an expression of happy contentment on her face.

Blue has a remarkable ability to maintain eye contact-- he speaks volumes by holding your gaze and looking deeply into your eyes. Mabel is a big hearted girl who is always joyful-- she has a knack for spreading sunshine. Both would be very dear and loyal friends and companions!

Blue and Mabel have been together for four years and are best buddies who need to remain together. Both are loving, energetic, and playful, and they adore belly rubs, cuddling and couch time. They are working on confidence and socialization skills, so they do best meeting new people and dogs slowly. It might be best for this bonded pair to be the only dogs in a household.Because they’re still uncertain about trusting new people, and young children tend to be loud and unpredictable, we’re recommending they be placed in a home with only older children. Blue and Mabel are both housetrained, heartworm negative, neutered/spayed, and current on vaccinations.

The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $250.00, which includes their vaccinations and spay/neuter.

Blue and Mabel are participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster, not by DFWRM.
