Adopt a Basset Hound / Dachshund / Mixed (short coat)
Mya the Dog needs a home
This is Mya, one of our special needs/medical cases. Mya was adopted as a pup from us about 3-1/2 years ago. In March 2016 she suffered a severe herniated disk in her spine. Her adoptive family didn't think they could handle the issues involved with surgery and potential physical therapy that might be required, so Mya came back to us. She underwent surgery but hasn't yet fully regained the use of her hindquarters. Therefore, Mya has been attending physical therapy once a week to enable her to be able to walk independently where she receives laser therapy and stretching, manual nerve stimulation of her paws/pads, has to walk/lift her feet over 4" high bars, do figure-eights around cones for balance, stretch and stand on 2 legs, then underwater treadmill for 3 sets of 4 minutes each. Mya does not have bowel/bladder control, so wears a diaper. She often lifts her hindquarters, assumes a wide stance and walks/runs now ! She currently weighs about 30 pounds which is just about a perfect weight for her. We believe she is a Basset hound/Dachshund mix. Mya is full of love and life and would dearly love to have her own family once again. She is fostered in Fairmont, WV. If you are that special kind of person that would continue to help Mya become independently mobile while sharing your life with her, please complete an adoption application at
