Adopt a Great Pyrenees (long coat)

Great Pyrenees (long coat) Dog

Ripley - pending the Dog needs a home

Adoption Pending. You can see more of these beautiful dogs by clicking on Rescue Dogs.

Children in the home must be at least 6 years old.

Previous dog experience is required, preferably large breed.

Female Great Pyrenees rarely cohabitate with other females successfully. Our goal is for each adoption to be a permanent placement, therefore homes that already have a female dog are not eligible to adopt a female Pyr.

Ripley, affectionately called Muffin by her foster mom is a very sweet and beautiful adult Pyrenees girl who’s life has changed for the better since she had the good fortune of coming to rescue. This lovely gal arrived in very tough shape and now is looking and feeling like a million bucks after spending time with her foster family. Ripley was likely left outdoors in a field her whole life and ended up at a crowded shelter. She is now living the good life indoors and loves being in a home - she has impeccable manners! Ripley enjoys her foster brothers and sisters, and she is especially fond of smaller dogs...she likes to snuggle with her one older pal on her big comfy dog bed. She walks great on a leash and she is perfectly housetrained, has never had an accident. She did arrive fearful of strangers, especially men, but she does well once she gets to know someone. Ripley would be a wonderful companion for some lucky person and would do best in a quiet home. She is a pretty low key gal, not a big barker and she is a sweet girl who is so thankful for a good meal, a comfy bed and your company. She was initially frightened when she first arrived, and will likely be a bit fearful during her transition to a new home - but she has settled in so well and learned so much in her few months in rescue care. Ripley can be afraid of storms and really prefers being indoors rather than out, but she has learned how to play with her foster buddies in the yard. So, if you are looking for a calm and gentle companion, Ripley is your girl! This sweet older soul deserves a nice life after having a rough start!

About Us: National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a not-for-profit, tax-exempt coalition of Pyr rescuers and rescue groups. We save Pyrs and Pyr mixes across the country and place them in approved foster homes so we know how they will interact with
your
family. Please consider adopting or fostering. Every dog who is fostered or adopted makes room for another Pyr coming out of a kill shelter. Prior to adoption, NGPR dogs are fostered for a minimum of two weeks (usually more), spayed or neutered and fully vetted. Dogs coming from out of area are certified with a USDA health certificate before going to their new homes. Our rescuers adhere to the highest placement standards and will take back any dog whose adoption does not succeed. Visit www.nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed.
