Adopt a Dachshund (medium coat)
Meyer the Dog needs a home
**This information is current - when you email you can rest assured we will email back within 24hrs., but usually within an hour of receiving your email!**The rescue support donation is not for the 'purchase' of a dog, but rather to cover the medical and other costs of all dogs in our care. Shelter support donations are NOT NEGOTIABLE for that reason. Please respect that and do not email us to ask. Without ongoing support and adoption fees, our rescue WILL CEASE TO EXIST!**No phone calls, EMAIL ONLY, [email protected] to get an application, thank you for understanding.**
**These dogs are in foster homes, not a shelter setting; therefore we only accept appointments for those reasonably sure they WILL adopt the dog for which they are applying.**
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Meyer has returned to APUR. This was through no fault of his own and he's still the wonderful dog that left here about 3 yrs. ago.
Meyer is around 10 years of age. He's current on his vaccinations, has a microchip and is, of course, neutered.
Meyer is a polite houseguest who enjoys sleeping on the bed with his person/people, and playing outside when it's warm. He is housetrained but doesn't like the dog door. He'd like someone home all or part of the day. He is quiet except when waiting for his meals! A home as opposed to apartment would be best, and a fenced yard is mandatory for all hounds.
Meyer has a slight limp on his front leg (which also looks a bit odd) that does not hurt him. He apparently broke a growth plate as a puppy, and his leg healed wrong. But it is healed and he shows no pain from the limp.
Meyer is particular about how people handle him and we'd like no kids under the age of 14 in the home because of that. He has "nipped" in the past, but has mellowed over time. He still doesn't care for vets and vet techs, but experienced techs and vets should have no issues with him.
Meyer is fine with other dogs and with cats, and in fact, ignores cats.
Meyer has a mild heart murmur which doesn't appear to need treatment at this time.
There is a $200 donation for Meyer, who has had his teeth cleaned and is all ready for a FURever home of his very own!
