Willy Wonka the Dog needs a home
If you have second thoughts about adopting a stray or abandoned dog/pup, please check out our "Successful Adoptions Page" and see how many dogs we have already placed into loving homes. Be sure to check out their happy endings under "Happy Tails!"
This A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E baby boy is a gorgeous dachshund mix. Willy Wonka was going to be euthanized by the shelter because he didn’t have “anal tone” and appeared to have issues with his bladder as well.
2nd Chance rescued him and we immediately took him to a neurologist for x-rays and an MRI. Both revealed that Willy Wonka doesn’t have any feeling in his nerves to his intestines and colon; therefore he has no control over his bladder or stool. In speaking with the specialists, Willy’s condition isn’t so much dangerous to his health as it is "an inconvenience." Willy's care involves the need to wear waist band wraps and expressing his bladder (manually release), in addition to daily stool softeners or enemas in order to assist him with bowel movements. Even though we were informed that we should consider putting Willy down, we felt that as long as his condition could be manageable with the proper care, we were going to give our boy a 2nd Chance, as Willy is SO FULL of life and love. He deserves to live, we are just hoping we can find a loving family that is willing to give him that chance. If you think you could open your heart, your home, and provide Willy with the ongoing care he needs, we would provide for his medical and living expenses for six months, and work closely with you to make sure that Willy and his family are appropriately supported for success.
