What an amazing story! Otto was rescued from the shelter as a little puppy and it was immediately determined that he had Hydrocephalus. What is that? Fluid accumulation in the brain. Sounds scary, but it really isn't. This boy is just like any other 1 year old little boy, but he's very special! We found a pediatric neurosurgeon that volunteered to help saves Otto's life by putting a shunt in his brain that drains any excess fluid into his abdomen. So absolutely amazing and outside of being visually impaired, but not blind (he basically sees shadows), and occasional circling, he is just like any other young boy that loves to play and be with his family and canine friends.Otto's only special needs are he needs to use a harness when walking because we don't want a collar on him due to the drain to his abdomen. He is in a foster home and has fit right in with 5 other dogs big and small. He is eager to learn! Otto loves to play with toys and is very affectionate. He deserves to find a home with someone that understands his special needs, but realizes that he's not all that different than any other dog.
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
