Redbone Coonhound / Hound / Mixed (short coat) Dog

Kona the Dog needs a home

Kona is a very handsome Redbone/Walker Coonhound about 1-2 years old.  He is neutered, current on shots, and microchipped.  He is still very much an active young dog and needs lots of space outdoors to run off some of his energy.  He loves to be inside with his family too.  He sleeps in his moms bed and is very good about waking her up when he needs to go out.  He needs lots of chew toys or he will find other things to chew on.  He doesn't like to be left alone so will need to be crated when his family is not around.  He has lived with two cats, two small dogs, and a toddler and did fine, but can be aggressive with some dogs.  He would be happiest as an only dog.  If he is with other dogs, he needs to be fed separately so he doesn't get grumpy with them.  He can be a bit stubborn, but he is very smart and learns quickly.  He knows sit and shake when he feels like it or when there is a treat involved.  He will listen but he needs reinforcement often. He loves to bark and be heard, which is typical of hounds, and wears a bark collar that seems to be helping. He needs someone to give him lots of attention and time to work with him on being the best dog he can be.

Kona is looking for a forever family to call his own. His adoption fee is $150, which includes neuter surgery and vaccinations (parvo/distemper and rabies.) If you would like to meet this dog, please email us: [email protected] or leave a message @ 435/752-3534. Please be patient with us getting back to you as we are all volunteers with full-time jobs.
