RESCUING MARKELL

Herman (now Markell) was found in horrible shape as a stray in Paulding County Georgia on October 29, 2016.  He spent 38 days sitting in animal control.  Luckily, FTTF had a foster family step up for him and he got his freedom ride out of the pound on December 5, 2016.  His name was changed to Markell which is the name of an FTTF supporter. 

ABOUT MARKELL

Markell is a 3-4 year old, 72 pound male all black beautiful pitbull mix.  He still needs to put on some weight and fill out.  We think he may have some Mastiff in him as his face has some sags and wrinkles.  He is being treated for a skin infection and unfortunately did test positive for heartworms and will have to undergo treatment for heartworms shortly.  Once his heartworms are treated he will be neutered and will be ready for adoption.  We are anticipating this will be August 2017. 



Markell does wonderful with children.  He is a quiet gentle giant.  He loves having the freedom of being in a home and having a family to be with.  He enjoys chewing bones and “destroying” toys.  He is a strong boy but does walk well on a leash (we are working on his pulling) and is the perfect gentleman in the bathtub.  He is becoming more confident with riding in the car and is actually starting to really enjoy it.  He is a smart boy and is extremely treat motivated to learn more.  Since he has started feeling better his true personality is coming out!  He likes to talk and use his voice especially when he wants something.  He does great in a crate and is housebroken. 

We have not yet interacted him much with other dogs or cats.  Once he is healthy and neutered we will begin to assess him with other animals.  We have not seen any aggression at all with him just curiosity and playful behavior.  He would make a great family dog and we are super excited to find him the perfect family to call his own!

Our adoption fee is $250. All dogs are current on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, on heartworm prevention, and are fed top of the line grain-free food.
