This happy-faced girl is Janie!
Janie was surrendered to a local Tennessee shelter when her owner passed away. She was pregnant at the time and had 13 beautiful puppies, some of whom have already been adopted. Janie appears to be a Treeing Walker Coonhound about 2 years old. She walks on a leash, but will pull when she really has to go to the bathroom (she likes to get to her spot in the yard ASAP). She is house trained, but does submissively pee occasionally and is crate trained. Currently she sleeps on the couch with her foster siblings with no issues. She's good with kids of all ages, and is fine with dogs of all sizes. She's VERY interested in her foster's cats, but not aggressive with them at all, in spite of being swatted a couple of times. She has LOTS of energy and is very playful - she would greatly benefit from having a fenced yard to play in, wander around in, and explore. She dearly wants a canine sibling or younger kids to play with! If a yard is not an option, she'll need daily leash walks and opportunities for off-leash time in a dog park. Dogs of all ages also benefit from mental exercise - think puzzle toys, busy feeders and games - and since she kind of likes to tear things up when she has nothing else to do, she's gonna need some of these. Janie thinks it would be a great idea to also take obedience classes together! You know, learn some cool stuff, gain some self-confidence, get in a little socialization with new dogs and people, and of course, some quality bonding time with her own people! She's smart, obedient, affectionate and eager to please, so this is highly recommended - she'll most likely ace the class. She is still very nervous meeting new people - she shivers and stands still - so class should really help. She may be timid at first with her new family, but once she's settled in she'll warm up just as she's doing with her foster family.
Janie's dreaming of a new forever home, now that her puppies don't need her. Would you like your home to be graced by this beautiful southern belle? Fill out an application today and let's not make her wait one day longer!
Adoption Fee: $425
**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
