Adopt a Coonhound / Plott Hound / Mixed (short coat)
Halston the Dog needs a home
We will be doing adoptions on Saturday, February 17th and Sunday, February 18th from 12-4pm at Palo Alto Pet Food Express. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express from 12-4pm on Sat. Feb. 17th & Sun. Feb. 18th or until adopted. If interested, please fill out an application if you would like the first opportunity to meet prior to the start of the event. (We will pre-approve one home to meet per dog.)
Halston is an 11 month old Hound mix. He was rescued from the shelter. He was left in their night drop area so his past is unknown. But we know what his future holds! It's all brightness with an amazing family. Halston has been living in a foster home with a Great Pyrenees and 2 kids. They were also joined during the week by a Lab female and apparently as much as Halston liked playing with the GP, he LOVED the Lab and went beserk for her. So if there's another dog in his future home already, our boy is ready! He is also a great option for going to the dog park or doggy day camp to get his play on!
Halson very much has that "bey" that Hounds are known for so he is not an option for an apartment or condo setting. He liked to join the GP in his home who would bark at squirrels and outdoor noises. When leaving him if you turn on a fan or TV or some type of noise interrupter from outside he'll be just fine. He was left along inside the home, not crated and he didn't redecorate. He slept through the whole night on his own bed at the foot of his foster parent's bed.
Halston likes toys and stuffed toys especially. He'll play with them for a bit. He also loves to be outside in the yard and exploring. He found a patch where the sun would shine down and he loved hanging out there. He had one accident in the past week he was at his foster home. They are also very consistent with letting the dogs come and go outside.
Halston is an option for a prepared home for a Hound. We will consider those applications that are thorough and demonstrate that preparation has occurred for training, exercise and socialization. If there are children in the home they need to be over the age of 10 or larger size kids. He's a bit too much for smaller stature kids or kids who haven't been around a large size pup.
