Adopt a Rat (short coat)

Nova, Pinky and Sparkles are a lovely trio of girls waiting for a forever home! The girls are well-socialized and healthy. We believe Nova was born in November 2015 and is the oldest of the trio. Pinky and Sparkles are a mom and daughter, and we believe Pinky was born in October 2016 and her daughter Sparkles was born on January 19, 2017. All 3 girls are lovely pink-eyed whites with standard top ears, but you can tell them apart because Nova has been marked with a spot at the base of her tail, and Pinky is slightly larger than her daughter Sparkles. Nova does like her space inside the cage and can be a little nippy if you reach into her space without proper warning. Once outside of the cage Nova is perfectly fine but she can be a wee bit territorial inside of her cage.

Nova, Pinky and Sparkles are bonded best friends and must be adopted together. Pinky and Sparkles have been spayed, but we opted to leave Nova intact due to her age. The adoption fee for the trio is a bit higher at $90 to help offset surgery costs for Pinky and Sparkles. Please contact us at [email protected] for more information. For your convenience, Small Angels Rescue has Rat Lodge (R-680) powder coated cages in stock and available for purchase at cost. Any habitat should provide a minimum of two and one-half cubic feet of space per rat. Please check with us before purchasing a cage other than a Martin's cage. Some cages are the correct dimensions but have other problems. We are happy to assist you in choosing an appropriate habitat and can save you time, money and frustration. Remember, there is no such thing as a cage that is too big! The rats of Small Angels would like to remind everyone that cedar bedding and pine bedding are toxic to all animals. Please use Carefresh bedding (first choice) or aspen bedding for your animal friends.

Never put your rats in an exercise ball. Exercise balls are dangerous and stressful for all animals. Rodents have poor eyesight. Their vision is even more limited in a cloudy colored ball. They always run into furniture and walls, which they don't see coming. It's like a car crash for them. They back up to try and get away and end up crashing into something else. Its very stressful. In addition, paws can get pinched/broken in the air slits. Animals can easily become over-heated. If they go to the bathroom in the ball, they have to run in their own waste. Furthermore, their great joy in life is exploring and checking things out with their paws and noses. They can't do that in a plastic bubble.
