Scrappy came in as a very beat up boy from Minneapolis Animal Control. As you can see in the video below, he is looking so much better these days but did test positive for FIV.


Scrappy is a super friendly cat with people but tends to pick on other cats, so should probably be an only cat. 


FIV is NOT a death sentence. From the ASPCA: "An FIV-infected cat may not show any symptoms for years. Once symptoms do develop, however, they may continually progress—or a cat may show signs of sickness interspersed with health for years."


FIV is only contagious to other cats through deep bight wounds, and is not contagious to other species or humans. He also has had his teeth filed down so would likely be unable to inflict a deep bite wound even if he wanted to. FIV scares many people off, but it doesn't need to. Scrappy is hoping you will be the person who can educate yourself about FIV and give him a chance!


Scrappy's adoption fee is reduced to $50 but a thorough background and reference check will be conducted.

Adoption fees include: 


Cats: Felv/FIV tests, worming treatments, flea prevention, earmite treatments, at least one distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine (if age appropriate) and sterilizations.  


Dogs:  wormers, flea treatment, sterilizations, age appropriate vaccines and HW test.

GTAS is a foster-based rescue organization.


Many of our cats are at the Roseville and St. Louis Park Petsmart stores.  Our animals are available for meet and greets at the Petsmart stores.  All adoptions are done on line by submitting an application at www.gt-as,org.  Once your form is submitted, references and a background check will be done. An adoption coordinator will contact you and let  you know if your application has been approved.  Cats are also available for meet and greets at the Roseville Petco store.
