It's safe to say that Cecilia is one of the friendliest dogs we’ve ever met! It looks like this charming Puggle had a pretty rough life before she ended up at an overcrowded county dog shelter as a stray but she is by no means letting her unfortunate past get her down. Shortly before Christmas, we saw her sweet face on a shelter’s website and called them about her as we were pulling dogs from there that week. We were told that she was scheduled for euthanasia that day as she appeared to have a broken jaw with multiple fractures and was about 10 years-old. Thanks to our great supporters, we knew that we could get her the medical attention that she needed so she made the trip to Canine Lifeline. She came off of the transport with a full body wag and kisses for everyone so we knew she had a zest for life! X-rays at our vet revealed that Cecilia did not in fact have a fractured jaw but was missing bone at the end of her lower jaw. A tissue sample was taken and it was found that she had a benign fibroma which was contributing to bone loss. After surgery to remove some tissue from the end of her lower jaw and a dental cleaning to polish up her remaining teeth, Cecilia looks and feels like a million bucks. Cecilia might have been used for breeding in the past as she looks to have had many litters of puppies. Those days are over though as she is now spayed and ready to live the rest of her life as someone’s very pampered pup. The shelter estimated her age at about 10 years but we suspect she may be younger than that—perhaps more in the range of 6-7 years. Cecilia LOVES people and gets along well with other dogs too. She has excellent crate manners so is likely to be housetrained too although we can’t guarantee it. Cecilia hasn’t had much experience on a leash yet as she really likes to charge ahead and explore so working with her on an EZ Walk harness will be helpful as she gains more practice. Cecilia has no trouble eating dry food now that she has healed from her surgery although she enjoys topping it off with a little canned food each meal. We know that you’re going to fall in love with this dog as much as we have! She’s a true delight!! Cecilia weighs about 27 pounds and her adoption fee is $150. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email [email protected] if you’re interested in Pixie. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there. Please visit our website at www.caninelifeline.org to see more photos of Cecilia and to submit an online application.
