Adopt a American Shorthair / Mixed (short coat)
Scooter the Cat needs a home
The day Scooter was pulled, I immediately took him to the vet. It turned out that the stitches on one of his wounds came out and it was caked with cat litter. Scooter hated being caged, but with open wounds, I didn't have much of a choice. His behavior got worse throughout his time in the cage, and frankly, I started wondering if this boy would be one that couldn't be adopted.
Once the wound closed up, I let him out of the cage in my bedroom, and his behavior got worse. I was losing hope. Two weeks later, I was able to get him neutered. In fact, he was so out of control, I had to use a live trap to take him to the vet. His behavior was so wild, the vet recommended releasing him into a colony
After his surgery, I put him back in a cage, in an area away from the dogs. Although he hated the cage, he started settling down and asking for attention. I released him back into my bedroom, and his true personality finally started showing through. He is a little leery of dogs until he gets to know them. And he really hates cages and carriers, but he is a sweet loving boy.
Scooter is looking for a furever home, who is willing to give him the time to adjust and show off his true personality. He is a very dominant male and prefers female cats, although he does get along with more submissive males. He can be very affectionate with dogs, once he gets to know them. He would probably do best in a home without young children, because he only wants to be picked up on his terms. Scooter is FIV/FELV negative.
