Adopt a Beagle (short coat)
Maggie the Dog needs a home
This cute little nugget was found as a stray and ended up in a rural county shelter. She was not doing well in the shelter environment, and was terrified and starting to shut down. A member of the shelter staff contacted one of our volunteers, and that call changed Maggie’s life. She is now settling into her foster home, and will be coming to N. VA in mid-February to start her new life.
Maggie is being fostered with multiple dogs, and she loves to play and really enjoys the companionship of other dogs. She’s a more timid dog by nature, but gains confidence as part of a pack. She’s learning from the other dogs in her foster home, and would really benefit from a confident, social dog in her pack. She’s crate and potty trained, but does have some food guarding issues around meal time, so her foster mom feeds her separately.
Maggie’s foster mom, Terrie, describes her as very loving, and says that she wants to be with you all the time. She’s happiest when she’s siting on your lap, and tends to be calm inside. She’s probably never had stability in her life, and is finally learning to trust and bond with people. She’s great with other dogs, and Terrie is getting her familiar with leash walking and meeting new people. She’s still timid and would do best in a calmer home environment with other dogs.
Updates to come as we learn more about this sweet Beagle girl. Coming to N. VA on 2/17.

You can also help save dogs like this one by becoming a foster, providing a rescue dog with a temporary home and giving them the love and care they need until they are permanently adopted. Every person who fosters is directly responsible for saving the life of a dog, because we can only save as many dogs as we have foster families available to welcome them into their homes. If you think you might be interested in becoming a foster and want to learn more, please go to http://foster.worthydog.org and fill out an application.
