Originally a Brooklyn stray, Shadow is a 2-4 yr old tri-colored rottweiler-pitbull mix weighing 57 lbs. She is overwhelmed at the shetler but brightens up when she's out and about. One of the shelter volunteers writes: "When I recently went to take Shadow for a walk and ended up in front of a seemingly empty cage, I was sure that someone realized what a sweet, mild-mannered, intelligent lady she is and scooped her up! That is, until I noticed a little bit of movement and a nose peeking out from behind the edge of the blanket! Shadow has been shy and seems out of her element at the shelter, but has come up with THE most endearing coping mechanism...hiding completely under her bed! She is happy to go out and about, but isn't ready to be cuddly yet (we're getting there!) and her amazing feats don't stop at magically fitting into small spaces: she walks beautifully on leash, seems housebroken, and already knows "sit", "paw" and "down." She has brief bouts of being waggy, playful (she loves fetch!), and even affection-seeking, but for a sensitive gal in a bustling place like this, it's easy for nerves to get in the way. She's hoping to upgrade to a fort with higher ceilings and one that comes with a resident human to love..." Check out her videos too!
