Davey is a fun, well-mannered, goofy boy that is always up for an adventure. He is a wonderful companion for walks around the Lady Bird Lake Trail where he shows off his excellent leash skills. And if you are up for it, he also enjoys a good run. Davey appears to be crate and house-trained and he makes a wonderful couch companion too. Hard-working Davey has perfected the skill of playing fetch using two tennis balls. He will run and catch the first tennis ball, bring it back to you and drop it in front of you and then quickly start running again so that you can throw the second ball. The big smile on Davey's face lets you know how much he really enjoys this game. Davey is an outgoing people-lover that has never met a stranger - everyone he meets is instantly his friend! Davey loves to snuggle and has been known to give kisses even on the first date, this boy is definitely not shy! Working with Davey on all of his skills is a lot of fun because he really enjoys learning and showing off what he knows. While showing off his leash skills, he often gets excited and does the cutest little trot by your side while looking at you giving you his biggest smile. It is absolutely adorable and impossible not to fall in love with this goofy boy. Davey is also in the Total Obedience Program. The Total Obedience Program (TOP) is modelled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP dog, Davey has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help him learn the skills to become the best dog he can be! Davey is learning skills like sit and down, sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, staying in a sit or down until told "free," and coming when called. Once Davey successfully completes all the skills on his training plan he will be considered TOP Dog Ready! Davey is working hard to become a wonderful pet and as a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with Davey after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together.
