Hello pleased to meet you. I’m Savannah. I’m  

6.5 years old and 8 pounds of pure happiness

!

I am very quiet (never bark) but also very present in my surroundings. I spin with delight when I’m happy, which is pretty much all the time. Want to know what brings me so much joy? Being with humans, eating food and when you talk to me.  I adore snuggling and sleeping in the bed. I admit that I was very shy at first and would flatten myself to the floor but with a gentle approach I have gotten past those fears in a very short time.

Treats are so new for me that I just started taking them easily. I love to sit on a lap or snuggle in a soft dog bed. I discovered the toy box and will dig in there, find something and play by myself. I often drag my favorite rope bone around everywhere I go.

I haven’t been around young children but warmed up to 7 & 11 yr old girls quickly. I can be afraid/unsure of strangers, but with an appropriate introduction, I’ll do just fine. I am good with all sizes of dogs. So far I have been around a Boston Terrier, another Chihuahua and an exuberant Springer Spaniel, but I won’t need another dog in my furever home. I can be your one and only sweetie!

I’m still working on potty training, but it’s been tough with this cold weather.  I’m really good about using  potty pads though. When nicer weather arrives, I will do my business outside. I am learning the word ‘kennel’ and am crate trained already. I do well sleeping in my kennel at night too. It has been too cold for outdoor leash training so  I will need more practice but won’t need a fence in my furever home.  I’m a super smart girl so all this will come to me in no time.

I’m just a tender hearted gal who loves to be held and talked to.

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe.
