Chico the Dog needs a home
Approximate Date of Birth: 8/7/2005
Meet Chico!
Chico is a senior boy who is looking for his perfect forever home. He’s a gentleman whose mission in life is to protect and make happy his human. Chico is fully potty-trained and responds to basic commands (sit, stay, come, no, go), but we are still discovering his full range of training. Chico catches on quickly to routines, has a sixth sense as to his human's mood, loves going on walks, and loves to sit in the sun and snooze. He is a mellow, senior pit bull who becomes alert and inquisitive to new sounds and people.
Chico was surrendered by his former owner and eventually found as a stray before joining the TCPR family. He shows extreme loyalty and devotion once he trusts his environment. His joyful yelps, exuberant prancing, and manic tail wags welcome you home whether you've been gone for 8 hours or 15 minutes! He quietly lies at your feet when you're watching TV, reading, or studying, but stays out of your way when you're working. He weighs 51 pounds but his calm demeanor would make him perfect for a smaller home.
Because of his protective nature, Chico takes clues from his human in welcoming new people into his home. He has done well interacting with older, respectful kids. He will need slow introductions when socializing with dogs (he can be dog-selective, so would likely do best with a mellow female canine companion).
Chico has a mild form of hypothyroidism and is on a low-cost daily pill regimen, which he will need for the rest of his life. He has recently received a full dental cleaning as well.
Chico will make a wonderful companion to an energetic-but-busy career person or an easy-going individual who likes walks, many doggy kisses, and who wants to learn everything Chico knows! He is truly one of the sweetest pups we’ve ever known!
