Adopt a Weimaraner (short coat)
Boudreax the Dog needs a home
Hello! My name is Bordeaux and I am big blue boy. Currently I weigh in at 110 pounds but my foster mom tells me my goal weight should be at 100 pounds. Still I kept growing past the breed standard so because of my height and muscularity I will always just be a big boy. I am two years old. I loved my family dearly and they loved me but due to a death in the family I needed to come live with my foster family. I now live in Tonganoxie, KS in the country with my foster mom, dad, and 7 year old, three other big dogs, three cats, horses, pigs, and chickens. I love so many things in life! I LOVE to run. My foster mom is amazed at the amount of energy I have. She says out of the 25 Weims she has fostered I am at the top with my energy level. My most favorite thing to do is go for off leash walks in the woods. I do great off leash and can be trusted to always come when called. I run everywhere exploring - I run ahead of my foster mom and then I come back when she calls me just to take off again after she checks in with me. I also love to run when my parents take the 4-wheeler out to the hayfields. I will run for a solid 30 minutes along the outskirts of the field. I LOVE my meals and I am on a restricted diet to work on my figure. I have to be fed alone because I can be food aggressive around the other dogs. I LOVE chewing! I have so many chew toys - elk bone, a Kong that gets filled with peanut butter, Nyla Bones, and soft toys. On days that I don't get enough of my energy worn off outside I also enjoy chewing on the dog beds and then de-stuffing them. I LOVE everyone I meet. I am very sweet and would love to sit with you on the couch or cuddle in bed with you but that is not allowed at my current house though I still try to sneak on the couch almost everyday. I also LOVE to play with other dogs. My foster sister is another blue Weim and we love to rough house together and get the "zoomies" together. However, I cannot be trusted to play with toys around the other dogs because I get possessive and will growl and snap at them. Some things I don't love but tolerate... I am crate trained and will quietly stay in my crate but I have to be bribed with treats to go in. I am kenneled from 8-12 and 1-4 five days a week. I've graduated from sleeping in my kennel! My mom says she trusts me because I've been on my best behavior so I can sleep outside my kennel at night and enjoy cuddling with my foster sisters - now if I could only convince her to let me sleep on the couch..... I also don't like to walk on a leash - I need work on it but because I'm so big and pull, I get put on a gentle leader which I really hate! Of course every Weim has quirks. My quirks would include playing the "in/out" game when I don't get to run enough. This is a super fun game for me where I whine at the door so I get let out and then I immediately scratch on the windows and doors to get let in. I don't get to play this very often though because my foster mom normally puts a stop to it by taking me on a walk. I guess she doesn't like the game? I also like to play the "catch me" game by taking something I'm not supposed to have and I want a person or dog to try to take it away. My foster mom won't play with me and ignores me when I take things so I end up giving up and just putting the object down. Lastly, my third quirk would be that I can be very naughty inside if I don't get properly exercised that day. I will pick fights with the dogs, slide on the hardwood, and bark at the cats (which I normally leave alone). I am pretty vocal. I like to let my people know of noises I hear. My foster mom tells me I'm quite imaginative and that I bark a lot for no reason. However, I think barking at my reflection in the windows is a perfectly good thing to bark at. I also will definitely chime in when the other dogs bark though it's just for moral support as I have no clue why they are barking most of the time. I'm really a sweet boy who will make you laugh at my silly antics (or drive you up the wall...) and would love to meet you. Thanks for reading! Bordeaux is fostered in Tonganoxie, KS and his adoption donation is $250.
