Murphy is a beautiful soul who has never known kindness until just recently. This sweet, gentle dog was found in a ditch on the side of the road, next to dead. Thankfully animal control discovered him just in time, and an army of volunteers moved heaven and earth to get this amazing dog the medical care he needed. 6 months later, Murphy is in heaven, living in a house for the first time in his 8-9 years of life. He has some arthritis that should have been addressed as a younger dog, but it's too late to do anything about it now, so he has an old dog way of going that just makes him all the more endearing. We started him on glucosamine and meloxicam right away, and it's made a world of difference, but he'll always have a bit of a hitch in his giddy-up. The good news, this sunny boy doesn't seem to have a problem at all with taking life in shorter steps. He is learning all of the great things about living in a house, he found sofa, he found dog beds, and he found kind and loving hands to pet and massage his battered body. He's learned all about crate training, and house breaking, and soft toys for his older teeth to chew on. He still thinks it's kinda fun to tear paper into bits, or shred his stuffy and make a glorious mess, but he's learning quickly that life in a people house means chewing on your own toys, not on people things. Good boy Murphy, so many life lessons in your first month in foster! Murphy is very content to amble along and take life as it comes. He gets along great with other dogs, but his boorish young foster brother can play over there, please, let and old dog enjoy his sofa time. He goes on daily walks to help build his muscle structure, and his foster dad is looking into building him a swimming pool to make is exercise efforts easier on his joints. This is a heartstrings kinda dog, there's no two ways about it. What we're looking for is a kind and gentle adopter who will give this older guy an amazing second half of his life. He may not be running a marathon or going on long hikes, but he sure is easy to have around the house and we know there's someone out there with a soft spot for dogs who need some proper southern spoiling. Do you have a spot in your home for a sweet boy to set up his plushy dog bed? We'd love to hear from you! Email [email protected], we'll tell you all about this village favorite we call Murphy.
